Hi, I’m Pam.
I’m a creatively driven thinker, mom of three boys—one furry—and founder of Making Neighborhood, a storytelling platform bringing us together one neighbor at a time.
Several years ago, during an extremely cold winter walk through the frozen wetlands and snow-covered savannah of Illinois, a question kept floating in and out of my consciousness:
What keeps us from truly seeing each other?
With each step, I searched for an answer. I stared at skeletal branches etched against the overcast sky; I smelled the scent of cold earth and more questions followed: Why is it so easy to judge? Could it ever be easier to connect instead?
By the time I got home, something had shifted. A quiet clarity settled in: I could be part of the answer.
So I got to work the way I always do—with a sketchbook. I scribbled words and doodles, capturing ideas as they came. Making Neighborhood grew from those word-doodles. Life pressed pause—first with COVID, then with the logistical whirlwind of selling a home of 25 years and moving 2,176 miles away. But it was never forgotten.
Today, I invite you to be a part of Making Neighborhood—to move in, share a conversation on the front porch, and get to know your fellow neighbors. Because change begins with connection.
Let’s Gather!
I Believe:
Community is built on connection and empathy.
My Vision:
To challenge perceptions, inspire understanding, and break down barriers—building a neighborhood rooted in love, belonging, and truth.
