Neighbor to Neighbor

5 Questions and a Game

Neighbor Close-Up

Every neighbor has a story. In these conversations, we ask the same five questions. We listen in and see our neighborhood a little differently.

Graphic with the quote: 'What if your story was the one that changed someone's heart?'—inviting community connection through storytelling on Making Neighborhood.

The Five Questions We Ask + Our Game

THIS OR THAT

Every conversation starts the same way. A small, light question. Pizza or pasta. Concert or film. Early bird or night owl. It sounds simple, but something shifts. We laugh. We relax. And suddenly, the person across from us feels familiar. It’s an easy way to begin.

GRANDPARENTS

Grandparents, by blood or by bond shape us. In these stories, neighbors talk about the people who helped raise them. What they were called. What they were like, What they taught them. We all carry someone with us.

CHILDHOOD MEMORY

These are the memories that make us smile. The memories that stay. Favorite games. Birthday surprises. Proud moments. Simple joys. When we share them, we remember we all started the same way. As kids.

UNSEEN

In these stories, neighbors share times they felt unseen or judged. Moments when assumptions were made before anyone truly knew who they were. These experiences stay with us. They shape how we move through the world.

SEEN

In these stories, neighbors share moments when they felt truly seen. When someone noticed them. Listened. Understood. It matters more than we think. It’s something we all long for.

WORDS OF WISDOM

Every conversation ends the same way. We ask for words of wisdom. Something learned. Something lived. Small reminders we can carry with us.

“Where the EYES go,
the HEART will follow.”

The more we share, the more we see our neighborhood in a new way.

Are you ready to keep exploring the voices, experiences, and perspectives that bring us together, one neighbor at a time?

No matter who you are, who you think you are, or who you think others see—this is the neighborhood for you.
